This week I want to sing the praises of the National Early Years Trainers and Consultants Organisation - NEyTCO

We joined this membership organisation for UK trainers, consultants and researchers in the Early Years sector shortly after it was launched by Laura Henry and Catriona Nason in December 2014.

Its key purpose is to meet the needs of members, improve quality in the sector and impact children’s positive outcomes.

NEyTCO brings together experts in the sector to offer mutual support, facilitates a forum for discussing issues and supports raising the quality of Early Years provision.

It also provides a directory of Early Years trainers - including our business - and consultants to support networking and collaboration and as a one-stop- shop for commissioning agents such as Early Years settings, local authorities and schools, among others.

As an incorporated Community Interest Company, NEyTCO is a business with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.

Working together through the various regional groups and committees, members separate themselves from commercial interests for the good of the sector, customers and suppliers. Representation from NEyTCO on various committees ensures membership continues to improve standards and quality of Early Years provision.

We receive regular e-mails, keeping us in the loop with what's going on in the wider industry, Government policy, news, Standard updates and any regulations which may affect our sector. It's invaluable, timely, information which means we are always up-to- date with the latest developments.

As a member we have to commit to a Code of Professional Conduct, having to meet the required standards for operational proficiency and integrity, plus demonstrate we possess the relevant commercial acumen to enable us to deliver our service. It's a great concept and one which means the sector can have absolute trust in NEyTCO members.

Being a member on NEyTCO has proved to be of real value to our business on many levels. In fact, just a couple of weeks ago at the Nursery World Show in London, all our advertising material was on display for visitors to the NEyTCO-sponsored Training & Consultancy Zone. It was a fabulous 'shop window' to showcase our courses and training opportunities - making the membership fee worth every penny.
